Something a little odd is happening with me. Firstly I’m sticking faux pony skin onto a wall it arrived from Paris yesterday so super excited to see that go up. Secondly I’m blinging everything up,   we in the midst of repainting one part of the studio deepest darkest black and my vintage zinc table is now being relocated to the garden and replaced with an oval granite super lux one! Thirdly I’m becoming a little obsessed with animal prints, think leopard, snake, lizard a bit of moc croc!

I was over at the Design Centre last week trawling through fabrics and each time found myself gravitating towards the animal print kind, faux naturally. From lampshades to tables from rugs to stationary I am becoming a big fan. Animal prints have been around in the decorating world for yonks – the trick I find is to use them in isolation rather than the whole shebang although I started out with that line of thinking with the faux pony fur. Great as a cushion thought I and next thing you know the whole wall is being done out in it!

Animal prints pack a visual punch and inject instant flare into pieces, no matter if you add a little bit in isolation or you’re a bit more ballsy and go the whole hog.  As with all things decorating its personal and there is no right or no wrong. As you’ll see from the slide show there are many ways you can go. My favourite is the opener and that beautiful hallway designed by Kelly Wearstler. Things are changing fast around here having a hallway rocking this vibe might very well be next on the list!
