But won’t it make the room feel smaller? Don’t you have to paint small rooms light colours?
WRONG. I know this is conventional decorating wisdom, but I find this a little silly to be honest… firstly how much bigger does anyone honestly think a room will feel if it’s white? Twice as large?? I mean, I just don’t get it.
Secondly, dark colours are perfect for optical ilusions. The trick is that if you go all out – paint walls, floors, ceilings, everything – it can actually make a space feel bigger. Might sound counterintuitive, but so many people have said this about going dark! By painting everything one shade you remove boundaries and create the illusion of infinity.
