I wanted to talk about a new book about to be released next month, Jean-Louis Deniot Interiors. I recently had the pleasure of photographing Jean-Louis Deniot’s Parisian apartment for my next book and was totally blown away by his home and his work which is why I am HUGELY excited that he has a book in the pipeline. It’s the first book devoted to his work, and I’d just like to know what took him so long.
Known for exquisitely appointed rooms and complex layered designs, all of his interiors are filled with polished glamour and wit. From private apartments on the Left Bank to glittering art filled apartments in Chicago and LA, he manages to conjure up incredible spaces.
It’s an inspirational tome that I cannot wait to get my hands on, especially as Jean-Louis shares his design philosophy, names his favourite resources and shares his thoughts on every design essential from paint to hardware. Music to my ears is this quote from the man himself:
“I always want to get as far as possible from the white box. My interiors are about atmosphere, character, texture, and a sense of harmony.”
I couldn’t agree more. Jean-Louis is a master at textural variation, his work is playful, theatrical, timeless and chic. Cannot wait for this book to come out!
