Gabriel Cabrera: @artfuldesperado. Gabriel is a mega talented food stylist and photographer, with an instagram feed that is total foodie temptation. His blog is chock full of recipes too. Everything he styles/shoots/writes I want to eat. Literally everything!
Have a sticy beak around this townhouse on Livingetc’s website. Major props for such an intoxicating use of colour, from inky blues to vibrant purples and pops of orange enlivening grey shemes. Also some fabulous taste in lighting! I spy some of my favourite ever chandeliers – a fabulous mud beaded piece, and a handmade porcelain chandelier.
The Mountain Shadow is the long awaited second book from Gregory David Roberts. I cannot wait to dive into this new tome, as it’s fat as anything and if it’s anything like his first novel Shantaram it will be such a juicy read! The Mountain Shadow is the sequel to Shantaram, so continues the story of an Australian jailbird who flees to Mumbai, gets caught up with the Indian mafia and then somehow ends up fighting for the mujahideen in Afghanistan. It’s partially based on Roberts’ own life, colourful to say the least. I cannot wait!
Have you guys been to a Friday Late yet? Some of the biggest galleries and museums in London – V&A, British Museum, NHM, Tate, the National Gallery – open their doors until late on the last Fri of every month. Today my pick of the bunch would be the Natural History Museum for a really cool take on Halloween. It’s all filmed around “Natural Horrors”, so there’s cult horror film screenings, a creepy Cabinet of Curiousities launch party, wildlife photographer of the year awards, an improv play, botanical cocktail bar and edible insects tasting. That last one might be a step too far for me, mind!
Have a good weekend and a happy Halloween everyone. We won’t be Halloweening tomorrow, it’s Retail Class day. Thinking of it though its pretty appropriate, as the realities of running your own retail biz are pretty scary, come to think of it!
