If you’ve seen my instagram recently, you might have noticed that a big cactus forest has just sprouted in my hallway! They’re all sample deliveries from my own label design, and it’s super exciting to see them “in the flesh”. This sudden indoor desert wasn’t planned, but it got me thinking – why can’t you create a hot, tropical oasis indoors? I don’t know whether I’m just missing summer already, but it’s great to inject a bit of tropical fun into the home.
AND… I’d love to see the tropical touches you guys have in your own homes! Please share a photo of exotic decor in your pad, and the most gorgeous will get a £75 gift voucher for the store.
Faux palm plant,
Obvious place to start when building your own indoor tropical palm paradise – a palm tree! Our fabulous faux plants make me feel all summery-chic, all year round. If you can’t go to Palm Springs, you can always bring Palm Springs to you.

Matthew Williamson designed this dreamy palm print wallpaper and fabric. The swaying palms sent me straight off to an island paradise. I love the colours too, which would be great for a slightly moody, sophisticated feature wall.
Tropical aromatics soap,
These soaps are just as gorgeous in and out of the packaging. Fun illustrations, and scrummy scents of basil, lime and mandarin can inject a bit of tropical fun into bathrooms or the downstairs loo.

Designer palm print vase,
I think every home should have a hanging chair! This rattan one works anywhere – indoors or outside. It’s the perfect place to kick back with a short rum cocktail, and transport yourself to a tropical verandah.

Wide Sargasso Sea, by Jean Rhys
If you’re looking for something to read while you’re relaxing in your tropical paradise, you should settle down with Wide Sargasso Sea. Not only is it a well-deserved classic, but the beautiful descriptive writing has the power to take you right into the lush and wild rainforests of the Dominican Republic.
These are my tropical style ideas – don’t forget to show me yours! #AbigailAhern75
