Which paint do I go for?
For dark paint to work, natural pigments are always best. I’m sorry to say this, but you really do get what you pay for here! Cheap paint will give you a very one-dimensional colour and leave it feeling flat and blah.
I used natural pigments in my Abigail Ahern paint range. It’s why colours such as Hudson Black are so much richer – it’s the most sumptuous, sophisticated black imaginable. It’s softly chalky, matt and deeply complex. There are beautiful undertones of brown to soften it, so there’s real redolence and depth to the hue. Farrow & Ball, Little Greene and Zoffany paints are also the real deal.
