This is me (almost) wrapping up the biz column so this year. I say almost because it’s been a crazy ass year for us, so I’m going to write up my thoughts and looking back on 2016 in a bit more detail closer to the end of the year. For now, let’s just say it’s been exhilarating, frustrating, hectic and exciting all at once. Such is running your own business!

I also wanted to say thank you to you guys for reading the biz column, and for keeping me inspired to keep writing it. I know that these posts aren’t as popular as my design yabberings or the house crush posts, but this smaller readership is so passionate and dedicated. I’m so glad to have this audience for my musings, because even though I don’t pretend to be any sort of business guru (hell I’ve made all these mistakes so that you don’t have to) I want to be able to keep the biz column going as a small but regular part of the blog. Obviously running my own business is such a huge part of my life, and I think the blog ought to reflect that side too – even though in reality it would be about 95% business and only 5% for the more fun stuff!

Most of all I appreciate the community we have here. With the rise of social and “quick hit” internet reads, people don’t comment on the blog nearly as much as they used to, even as the numbers keep going up. (Where is everybody??). However the most commented section pretty much without fail is the business posts. It’s always wonderful to hear from other retailers, small business owners or entrepreneurs who are just teetering on the edge of starting their own biz. I know that it can feel a bit lonely as your own boss, and you suspect that nobody else has all the same trials and tribulations flung at them that you do. So I really treasure those comments and connections that let me know that other people are in the same boat after all! Or even more amazing, that I’ve been able to help in any small way with my blog posts. So there will be more coming in 2017, as well as a big reflection on the biz year so far to come. But in the meantime, here are the top 10 most popular biz posts this year. This one is dedicated to all you entrepreneurs out there!
